"Every Fish is a Desalination Plant" (2019) -Installation in 6m Container Domplein Utrecht.

3x2,33x2,26m

Wood, bolts & nuts, screws and plexiglass.

What is this and why did you make it? I made the installation for the Uitfeest festival in Utrecht on 15 September 2019. The work was built into a 6 meter long container. which stood in the shadow of the
famous and well-loved Dom Tower on the Domplein in Utrecht. 500 people walked into it to the back of the container. They could not see the work properly, since the space was not well lit. Only when they turned around they saw the work with all its layers against the light from outside. Although it was so fragile, nothing broke. This gives me hope that we can look after our natural surroundings and resources, taking care and making sure that we do not harm the vulnerable.

Many thanks to the build-up team! At the Uitfeest and Art The Hague I was happy to have people who helped to build it up and down: Johannes en Herman van den Berg, Vera en Berthe Schoonman, other friends of Galerie SANAA, Art Utrecht and colleague Melanie Hongve. We had such fun! You look perfect in the installation. Any chance you can stay there for the rest of the Expo?

Women artists from Utrecht.

Marjolein Witte, Mariaan van den Berg, Marin Hondebrink, Bente Wilms and Ellis Veth.

Thank you so much for standing with me and my work.

Fokker Terminal, The Hague. What a beautiful building and such shiny floors to reflect the artworks.

I was invited through Galerie SANAA, Utrecht to be part of an exposition in the expo space of Art The Hague 2019 where women artists stood central. I am honoured to have been part of your initiative Art The Haque for shining the light on art about women as subject of art and on women as artists.

I think we can still learn a lot by copying nature and looking to Nature for ideas to solve our many environmental crisis.
